David Carey — Digital Transitions in Storytelling

David Carey, president of Hearst Magazines, guided the world’s largest publisher of monthly magazines through its transition to the digital age. Key to Carey’s success was his “Months to Moments” strategy, an approach that called for an increase in the timeliness and amount of content that Hearst produced. The transition, however, is far from over. As technology continues to evolve and consumers access content through new platforms on their phones, Carey urges media companies to learn how to package their stories in a such way that is optimized for each platform, and to view the changing digital landscape as the ultimate opportunity.
