Evan Walker-Wells is a cofounder and the publisher of Scalawag, a new media nonprofit reckoning with Southern politics and culture. Published in print and online, Scalawag is working to build a home for the South's brightest thinkers, writers, and organizers to share their stories and ideas and to reimagine what it means to be Southern. As an undergrad at Yale, Walker-Wells was one of the university's first communication and consent educators. Working with administrators and other students, he helped develop workshops and events, such as Take Back the Night, to create a more positive romantic and social culture on campus. In 2008, he worked for President Obama's campaign in State College and the Appalachian region of Pennsylvania, and joined the reelection campaign in Virginia Beach. He now lives in Durham, North Carolina.
