Biography
In addition to establishing Harmony Institute, a nonprofit interdisciplinary research center dedicated to revealing the influence of entertainment, John S. Johnson is the Cofounder and Chairman of Johnson Research Labs, a research center that develops creative and cutting-edge technologies. He also cofounded BuzzFeed.com, one of the fastest-growing media websites today. Before that, he founded EYEBEAM, the nonprofit art and technology incubator that pioneered reBlogging and public campaign finance data geocoding (now Fundrace), and Screenwriters Colony, a retreat for emerging screenwriters pushing the boundaries of the craft. John wrote, produced, and directed two feature films: Without a Trace: June 10, 1979 and Ratchet. He is a Henry Crown Fellow (2003 Discovery Class) at the Aspen Institute, a global forum that promotes enlightened and morally responsible leadership. John has a master’s degree in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University.
