Biography
Ryan Heffington is a performance artist, choreographer, designer, and the owner of the Sweat Spot dance space in Los Angeles. He is the recipient of the 2014 MTV VMA for Best Choreography for his video work with Sia. Their collaboration on the “Chandelier” music video has garnered more than 1.6 billion internet views, ranking it as one of the most watched videos in history. He has worked with dozens of music artists, such as Florence + The Machine, FKA Twigs, Lykke Li, Arcade Fire, and Massive Attack. On the big screen, Heffington’s work can be seen in Christopher Guest’s Mascots and Edgar Wright’s critically acclaimed Baby Driver. He also recently received wide recognition for his work on Netflix’s groundbreaking television series The OA.

In this movement-based workshop, we'll explore and discover the intricacies we can make with our bodies in order to narrate and embody specific emotions and create a dialogue between the physical body and music. Through gesture, staging, and exploring simple examples of physical interaction, we will delve into a deeper and more refined depiction of storytelling.
