Dr. Beau Lotto's research on perception explores the ways in which we are conditioned to experience the world through our own versions of reality. Our senses are telling us stories about the world. We can control those stories to change our perceptions and ourselves. Lotto's research on illusion has taken him beyond neuroscience into business, education, and the arts.
His education program, iScientist, resulted in the youngest published scientists in the world. His lab became the first publicly accessible research space, doubling as a nightclub, redefining what science is and who can participate in it. Most recently, Lotto founded the first digital social platform, predicated on his neuroscientific research of what it is to be human. He has given two main-stage TED talks and has spoken at Google Zeitgeist, Wired, and the G8 Summit. His most recent book, Deviate, was released by Hachette in February 2016, further exploring the relationship between context and perception.
